Pak President Zardari to attend Boao Asia forum moot in China

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will attend the three-day Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference for 2009, to be held in south China抯 Hainan Province.

Zardari will attend FoP meeting in Tokyo and afterward he will proceed for Boao. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, along with senior officials, will accompany the president. This year the focus of the conference will be on the impacts of global financial crisis on Asia, with the theme of 揂sia: Managing Beyond Crisis?

Participants at the forum will exchange ideas on issues, including the impacts of the financial crisis on Asia, the 2009 economic outlook and how the region can weather the challenges. They will also discuss topics concerning China抯 economic development. Established in 2001, the BFA is a pan-Asian platform of dialogue for key issues relating to Asia and the world and is the most prestigious forum for leaders in government, business and academia in Asia and other countries. The event will be attended by the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Asif Ali Zardari, Matti Vanhanen, Prime Minister of Finland, John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand. Fidel V Ramos, Former President of the Philippines and Bob Hawke, Former Prime Minister of Australia. The event will also attach much importance on the increasing role that emerging economies play in the global financial arena.
