BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's economic and social development was soundly beyond expectations, with a "consolidated" growth recovery, the government said Wednesday.
China has reversed the downward trend in economic growth thanks to the timely and all-round implementation of the government's economic stimulus package and other policies to address the global financial crisis, said a statement issued after an executive meeting of the State Council or the Cabinet on Wednesday chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao.
The country's quarterly economic growth picked up in the first three quarters of this year and the contribution of domestic demand to economic growth was enhanced, it said.
