President SAARC CCI asks China to invest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP): President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI), Tariq Sayeed here on Friday urged the visiting Chinese business delegation for giving more market access to Pakistan besides increasing investment in the country.
He said talking to a four member trade delegation led by Chairman CCPIT and Organizing Committee of China?South Asia Business Forum who called on him here.

The delegation invited Tariq Sayeed to address the inaugural session of the 4th China?South Asia Business Forum scheduled to be held in June 5?7, simultaneously with the 17th Session of China Import and Export Fair, Kunming and the 2nd South Asian Countries Commodities Fair.

During the meeting Li Jiashou, Chairman CCPIT Yunnan said that China’s trade is about US$ 600 billion with the region adding that trade with Pakistan was only US$ 6 billion.

Tariq Sayeed underlined the need for increasing bilateral cooperation in trade between the two countries aimed at balancing the trade with China.

Vice President SAARC CCI, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that the importing hybrid rice seeds from China has increased the yield hundred percent.

He said that time has come that China should transfer its technology to Pakistan and called upon the business community to take interest in this business forum.
