| Pakistan to take part in South Asian Countries Commodity Fair |

BEIJING, Apr 10 (APP): Pakistan will take part in big way in the second South Asian Countries Commodity Fair (SACCF) to be held in Kunming the capital city of Yunnan province. Giving details of June 6?10 of the second edition of SACCF at a press conference here Friday, the provincial Vice Governor of the Yunnan, Gu Zhaoxi said that by the end of March as many as 75 booths have been booked by different exhibitors from Pakistan.
Besides Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka will also participate in the fair jointly organized by Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Yunnan Provincial government.
In the first such fair held in Beijing in December 2007, the Commercial Counsellor at Pakistan Embassy Dr Naeem Khan told APP that only 20 exhibitors from his country attended, but this time we expect more than 75.
“China is a big market for Pakistani manufacturers and traders, so by participating in such kind of exhibitions, we can tap the vast potential and contribute to narrow our balance of trade which is now in favour of China,” he noted.
The Governor Gu said that concurrently with the SACCF, the 17th Kunming Import and Export Fair will also be organized.
The exhibition will cover 10 areas, they are textile and clothes, mineral resources, medicines, arts and crafts, jewelries, light industry products, building materials, equipment, IT and software as well as tourism service.
He said that organizers offer exemption to exhibitors from booth cost, public area, decoration fee, assist on product promotion, customs clearance and pay all the transportation cost within Chinese territory, besides, helping in organizing business matching and investment promotion seminars.
The holding of the Senior Official Meeting between China and SAARC is also part of the event.
In this regard the Governor said MOFCOM will invite officials from the Secretariat of the SAARC and commerce authorities of the South Asian countries to attend the meeting.
To highlight the importance of the exhibition, the organizers will send several delegations to South Asian countries and different regions of China to promote the Fair in various forms.
The Vice?Minister of MOFCOM Gu Chao Xi speaking on the occasion said that “Yunnan is the gate way to South Asia” and also highlighted the Free Trade Agreement signed between Pakistan and China.
