| Pakistan seeks Chinese support in education and training in tourism |

BEIJING, Jun 21 (APP)- Federal Secretary Ministry of Tourism Shahid Rafi here Thursday held a meeting with the Chairman, China National Tourism Administration Shao Qin Wei and sought the support for education and training courses for the trainers of the two training institutions being run by Ministry of Tourism, one in Karachi and other in Swat. The Secretary Tourism, is currently visiting China as the head of the Pakistan delegation at the Beijing International Tourism Expo-2007 that kicked off here on Thursday morning.
He also informed in details about the "Destination Pakistan 2007" celebrations in Pakistan and also invited China to participate in these activities.
The Secretary Tourism said that Pakistan wants to get maximum benefit from the experience the China has gained in the field of tourism.
On the occasion, the Secretary Tourism also sought scholarship for Pakistani to study tourism in Chinese institutions.
He also informed that in Liberal Arts, the Ghandhara University in Taxila is being established for which we will welcome Chinese support and assistance.
The Secretary at the meeting also proposed in large number publicity and promotion exchanges between Pakistan and China.
Shahid Rafi also briefed Shao Qin Wei about upcoming two important functions, the Silk Road Festival and the International Mountain Tourism Conference scheduled to be held in September, one in Northern areas and the other in Islamabad.
He said that in International Mountains Tourism Conference there are two important elements --the holding of Karakurram International Film Festival and inviting and honouring the foreign summiteers who scaled the eight thousand meters heights of Pakistani mountains.
The Secretary Tourism also extended invitation to the Chairman of China National Tourism Administration to be the chief guest at one of these functions.
Meanwhile, special gesture and singular honour given to Pakistan when, Secretary Tourism Shahid Rafi was invited first from over one thousand guests and introduced him to the participants of BITE at the Gala Dinner held at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday.
In the opening ceremony held today, again, the members of Pakistan delegation led by Secretary Shahid Rafi was given special honour by the host and positioned them in first line of the guests.
After a colorful inauguration ceremony, the senior Chinese officials including Chairman Tourism Administration Wang Jun and Director General Beijing Tourism Administration Du Jiang visited Pakistan pavilion and met with Secretary Shahid Rafi and highly appreciated the arrangements made to facilitate the potential tourists.
On the occasion Shahid Rafi briefed them about the activities being held in Pakistan in connection with the "Destination Pakistan 2007", which they highly appreciated.
